i think, sometimes people are so caught up in belief
they forget to think, why they believe. how they came to believe.
if you've spent your entire life dilligently believing in God, does it mean you've been a good follower?
does a person who consider the makings of religion and choose to ask questions that delve beyond their scriptures make a bad follower?
saying goes, to lead is to follow.. but i think contrary to that, to follow is to lead is also not wrong isn't it. you have to responsible for yourself and many others as a follower. mindlessness can never lead to anything other then blind faith.

i think God doesn't want us to lead life that way. i choose to believe that God is one who makes space for questioning, for doubting, for personal interpretation... sometimes, religion can be so stiffling. it strangles you, stresses you to believe in absolute truth. God exists because HE JUST DOES. no questions asked. really... is this the belief He chooses for us?
sometimes i imagine His life in heaven. haha. with technology, more people get to know about Him. but has He really spread His real message... i think not? more people are beginning to think they believe... and how are they spreading it? by telling people they go to hell if they don't. it stinks of commercialism. so people pop up in church and goes 'yes i've been saved!' right.
i think its funny, how, when people are asked things they don't know about their own religion, they stiffen, they avoid. what for? to be a good follower you have to know everything about God, about your religion? and yet, they say that human would never be able to fully comprehend God.

i just........ suddenly had some thoughts on the way home. angels and demons made me think about religion all over again.. even tho i watched the movie pretty long ago, but i guessed i shelved it for a day when i felt like thinking.
i don't mean to antogonise anyone, so...... don't be. haha.
i think like Rushdie (ooh lit) and feel horrified by the idea of an entire civilisation believing in one common ideology. whats the purpose of living if, everywhere you go there are only temples? or there are only mosques, churches etc etc. where's the colour? diversity? where is the dynamic quality of human that God gave us? what is culture if there's only one kind of it?
religion is full of contridiction. i wouldn't dare say they are ironies. but yes, to me, contridictions.
and like langdon said, religion is a gift that i have yet to receive, or maybe am just not fated to do so.
